It's funny how circles work. We're often told about the power of continuation without truly understanding what's in forward motion. I arrived in Charlotte, NC in 1985. The first person I met was a very happy and friendly radio guy from a competing radio station at a nearby mall called Eastland. That man spoke openly to me about how to survive in a city as large as Charlotte. It was market number 37 at the time. Compared to where I came from the jump up the charts would have excited Casey Kasum. That radio guy looked at me and said two things "Know where tomorrow is. When you find it. You will have success in a city like Charlotte." I walked around the Cherry Park area of Charlotte every day before going on the air. I studied the lay of the land and how it was changing too quickly. In the center of all that was moving was a school. Now in 1985 I didn't know that 32 years later I'd be chosen to be the final speaker at their school graduation. What makes the circle story possible is when you pull the lens back. Everything I've done during these years in Charlotte have been very close to that school. From the two different radio stations being only a block away to the school of broadcasting being only feet. The weddings I officiated down the street to thousands of dollars we raised for that school. Tomorrow it will be no more. These were the words that fell from my writing instrument just two days ago. Word for word not a single one scratched out. Henry Bogan in 1985 invited to locate tomorrow. I found it in a school.
