The Reluctant Dragon is a short story in which a shepherd's bookish son discovers that a large, blue-scaled dragon has taken up residence in the cave above their village — and that the beast is far more interested in composing sonnets than terrorising anyone. When St. George arrives to slay the beast, the boy finds himself caught between an unwilling dragon, an honourable saint, and a village hungry for spectacle.
