Story Transcript:

Hu: Az öreg óra a falon tizenegyet ütött Budapest szívében, egy kis étteremben, ahol a hónap magyar ízei díszítették a menüt. A helyiség falait történelmi festmények és régi receptek díszítették, olyan varázslatos hangulatot teremtve, ami visszavitt a múltba. A középső asztalnál egy férfi ült magában, neve Árpád.
En: The old clock on the wall struck eleven in the heart of Budapest, in a small restaurant where the flavors of the month adorned the menu. The walls of the room were adorned with historical paintings and old recipes, creating a magical atmosphere that took you back in time. A man named Árpád sat alone at the middle table.

Hu: Árpád nem volt budapesti. Valójában quebeci volt, de régóta álmodott arról, hogy megkóstolja a híres gulyáslevest, amelyről sokat hallott barátaitól és családjától. Ahogy ott ült a menüt bámulva, finoman az asztalra borított vörös papírlapon, az izgatottság elkapta.
En: Árpád was not from Budapest. In fact, he was from Quebec, but he had long dreamed of tasting the famous goulash soup he had heard so much about from friends and family. As he sat there gazing at the menu delicately placed on the table on a red piece of paper, excitement overcame him.

Hu: "Hé, az ott van... a gulyásleves!" Elégedetten dörmögte magában, várva a pincérnőt. Rájött, hogy bár sokszor hallotta a gulyáslevest említeni, de valójában sohasem mondta ki magyarul. "Gou-li-ash... Gul-jás... Gul-ash-levest..." Próbálkozott csendben, hogy helyesen mondja ki.
En: "Hey, there it is... the goulash soup!" he muttered contentedly to himself, waiting for the waitress. He realized that although he had heard goulash soup mentioned many times, he had never actually pronounced it in Hungarian. "Gou-li-ash... Gul-jás... Gul-ash-levest..." He quietly attempted to pronounce it correctly.

Hu: Ahogy a pincérnő odaér az asztalához, Árpád mély lélegzetet vesz, és megpróbálja rendelni. "Szeretnék egy... Gulash-lyova... nem, Gul-láshlova... vagy talán, Gulás-lesvét..." Elszégyenkezve nevet, miközben a pincérnő várakozóan nézi.
En: As the waitress approached his table, Árpád took a deep breath and attempted to order. "I would like a... Gulash-lyova... no, Gul-láshlova... or perhaps, Gulás-lesvét..." He laughed shyly while the waitress looked on expectantly.

Hu: A pincérnő, feje fölé emelt jegyzettömbjével, mosolyt villantott, és eltűnik a konyhában. Árpád zavara dacára, felszabadultan sóhajt, mert végre képes volt megrendelni az ételt, amiért Budapestre utazott. Amint azonban arra gondolt, hogy mi történhet a konyhában, újra jött a bizonytalanság.
En: The waitress, holding her notepad high above her head, flashed a smile and disappeared into the kitchen. Despite his embarrassment, Árpád sighed in relief, for he was finally able to order the dish he had traveled to Budapest for. However, as he thought about what might be happening in the kitchen, uncertainty came flooding back.

Hu: Ahogyan várakozóan nézett az ajtó felé, a pincérnő megjelent egy tányérral. "Itt van a Gulá...bibor-medúza. Remélem élvezni fogja!" mondta, és letette a tányért Árpád elé.
En: As he anxiously looked towards the door, the waitress appeared with a plate. "Here is the Gulá...beet-medusa. I hope you will enjoy it!" she said, placing the plate in front of Árpád.

Hu: Árpád meglepődött. Az étel nem úgy nézett ki, mint amit elvárt. A tányéron jelent meg egy gombóc, ami gőzölgött egy tányéron, nem volt semmi hús, zöldség vagy paprika, amire számított.
En: Árpád was surprised. The dish did not look like what he had expected. On the plate was a dumpling steaming, with no meat, vegetables, or paprika as he had anticipated.

Hu: "Kérem, ez nem..." - kezdte. De a pincérnő már elindult. Árpád szomorúan nézte az ételt.
En: "Excuse me, this is not..." he began. But the waitress had already started on her way. Árpád sadly looked at the food.

Hu: Úgy döntött, hogy kóstol egy kanállal, és meglepődött, hogy mennyire finom volt a medúzásragu. Bár nem ez volt az, amire Budapestben számított, mégis rájött, hogy valahol az kudarc mélyén az ünneplés érzése fekszik.
En: He decided to taste it with a spoon and was surprised at how delicious the medusa stew was. Although it was not what he had expected in Budapest, he realized that somewhere within the depths of disappointment, there lay a feeling of celebration.

Hu: Ahogy azzal harcolt, hogy kiessen a szokatlan étel maradékaival, megérkezett a pincérnő. "Elnézést kérünk, félreértettem a rendelést" - mondta mosolyogva, miközben egy másik tányért tett le Árpád elé, tele igazi gulyáslevessel.
En: As he struggled to finish the remnants of the unusual dish, the waitress arrived. "We apologize, there was a misunderstanding with the order," she said with a smile, placing another plate in front of Árpád, filled with authentic goulash soup.

Hu: Egy pillanatig csak ott ült, majd nevette a forgatókönyv iróniáját. Átadta magát az unalomnak és a gulyáslevest az izgalmának. "Ó, Budapest, micsoda kalandozás" - gondolta magában, ahogy elfogyasztotta az első hosszú várt kanál gulyáslevest.
En: For a moment, he just sat there, then he laughed at the irony of the situation. He surrendered to the excitement and boredom of Budapest. "Oh, Budapest, what an adventure," he thought to himself as he savored the first long-awaited spoonful of goulash soup.
