Susanna Doyle was "born in the great Northeast of the beautiful US of A," which you can hear more about if you view the recent video of her tune "Black Ice," a sad 🙂 tale of local weather performed by her roots-Americana group Trusting Fate (search YouTube for "trustingfatemusic"). It's the sort of thing that occurs when a retired technical writer seeks to keep out of trouble by singing/playing as much cover and original music as time allows with as many of the talented musicians in the area as possible.
Susanna has always sought to keep out of trouble this way, with acts in the Philly/Southern New Jersey area (James and Doyle, Ellsworth-Federal, Providence), and then in the Boston area starting in the 80's (Silverlock as a duo, the Vu-Matics, and redboxpanic, the house band at her company). All this has lately boiled down to a smorgasbord of current projects: Trusting Fate, then Silverlock redux, and Three Flights Up).
The music itself has been a voyage through genres - folk, pop, rock, a little country-rock, classic rock, blues, swing, jazz, and lately a deep dive into bluegrass and country. A vocalist first and foremost, then a keyboard player, Susanna has recently started a new brand of trouble by expanding to other instruments, notably a...brace yourself...accordion (stop reading now if you feel faint). She can be found causing a ruckus at bluegrass jams and festivals with her partner in crime Rick Cande; together they hit the open-mic stage at the Grey Fox festival three years and counting, and she accompanies him when he runs the Hearing Room open mic. Both Silverlock and Trusting Fate appear regularly at the Java Room in Chelmsford, and Silverlock at the Colonial Inn in Concord.
