I've only had one program director tell me to never talk about the weather on the air. He felt listeners could get it anywhere and that saying something about the weather disconnected listeners from enjoying the songs. Today the only reasons why most stations pay attention to the weather is because there's always a sponsor attached to it. If you aren't talking about the weather the station is losing money.
