Charles Fox Parham was born on June 4, 1873. He is typically referred to as “the father of Pentecostalism,” particularly teaching that the evidence that one received the baptism of the Holy Spirit was speaking in tongues. But if this is the case, it would mean that other groups before Parham who spoke in tongues had also received the baptism of the Spirit, even heretical groups.
