Damon Allen Benson, a 31-year-old man from Rancho Cordova, California, was recently sentenced to 71 years to life in prison following his conviction for a series of heinous crimes, including the murder of 48-year-old Cameron Gabriel and the torture of a woman. The case, which was rooted in a love triangle that began on Tinder, shocked the community due to its brutality.

According to reports, Benson met both the woman and Gabriel separately on Tinder. Driven by jealousy, Benson held the woman captive at his apartment, where she was subjected to extensive torture on multiple occasions. This included a horrific instance where he carved a swastika into her back while she was tied to his ceiling with a rope. The woman, who is Jewish, endured this torture as Benson sought the address of her other lover, Gabriel.

In a tragic turn of events, Benson located Gabriel and ambushed him at his home, resulting in Gabriel's murder. Initially claiming self-defense, Benson's argument was disproved by surveillance footage which showed him running into Gabriel's home in the middle of the night, shooting him, and then fleeing the scene.

The case was prosecuted by the Placer County District Attorney's Office, and the trial revealed the full extent of Benson's actions. The jury convicted Benson on charges including murder, aggravated mayhem, torture, felony criminal threats, and false imprisonment by violence.
Cameron Gabriel, the murder victim, was remembered for his energetic personality and positive outlook on life. His sudden and brutal death left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

The sentencing of Damon Benson marks the conclusion of a case that highlights the extreme dangers of jealousy and violence. The Placer County District Attorney's Office emphasized the importance of the sentence, stating that removing Benson from society was necessary to ensure he doesn’t victimize anyone again, reflecting the severity and inhumanity of his crimes.
