Malta's Financial Services Authority (MFSA) is seeking public input on proposed changes to its cryptocurrency regulations to align with the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations, effective in December 2024. Hong Kong-based crypto influencer Joseph Lam, known as "jolamchok," has been arrested in connection with the liquidity crisis of the crypto exchange JPEX. The National Bank of Kazakhstan has established the National Payment Corporation (NPC) to oversee the development and implementation of the digital tenge, the country's central bank digital currency. South Korean regulators are focusing on over-the-counter (OTC) cryptocurrency trades due to concerns about their use in illegal activities, particularly money laundering. Canadian Bitcoin mining company Hut 8 has received final approval from the Supreme Court of British Columbia for its planned merger with US Bitcoin (USBTC).
