Story Transcript:

Ga: Lá fuar geimhridh a bhí ann agus bhí an spéir glas liath os cionn Chaisleán Bhlarnan.
En: It was a cold winter day and the sky was a greyish green over Blarnan Castle.

Ga: Seo é an lá ar shocraigh Seamus, le cabhair óna chairde Aoife agus Connor, a bheith ag pógadh Cloch Bhlarnan chun beannacht na cainte a fháil.
En: This was the day that Seamus, with the help of his friends Aoife and Connor, had decided to kiss the Blarnan Stone to receive the blessing of eloquence.

Ga: Dhírigh siad ar aghaidh go dtí an áit íocónach sin, iad lán d'iontas agus de dhóchas na hócáide.
En: They made their way to that iconic spot, full of curiosity and anticipation.

Ga: Ag dul tríd na seomraí móra, thug Aoife agus Connor faoi deara go raibh Seamus beagáinín neirbhíseach.
En: Moving through the large rooms, Aoife and Connor noticed that Seamus was a bit nervous.

Ga: Nuair a shroicheadar an chloch cháiliúil, bhí an scuaine fada – daoine ó gach cearn den domhan a bhí tagtha chun a smideadh le póg.
En: When they reached the famous stone, the line was long – people from all corners of the world had come to peck it with a kiss.

Ga: Bhí Seamus ar bís agus a chroí ag preabadh ina chliabh.
En: Seamus was excited and his heart was pounding in his chest.

Ga: Crom sé síos os cionn na cloiche, ag spreagadh Aoife agus Connor lena lámha chun a thacaíocht.
En: He crouched down over the stone, encouraging Aoife and Connor with his hands for support.

Ga: Díreach mar a bhain Seamus súil as a phóig, sleamhnaigh a láimh ar bhealach éigin isteach sa chloch féin.
En: Just as Seamus closed his eyes for the kiss, his hand slipped somewhere into the stone itself.

Ga: D'fhan sé ansin, greamaithe.
En: He stayed there, stuck.

Ga: Ghlaoigh Seamus amach i bpian, "Aoife, Connor, táim sáinnithe!
En: Seamus called out in agony, "Aoife, Connor, I'm trapped!"

Ga: " D'iompaigh gach duine sa scuaine chun breathnú.
En: Everyone in the line turned to look.

Ga: Tháinig deargadh ar a aghaidh le náire nuair a thiocfadh lucht féachana mór timpeall.
En: A blush came to his face with embarrassment as a large crowd gathered around.

Ga: Rinne Aoife agus Connor gach iarracht chun lámh Sheamuis a bhaint, ach gan rath.
En: Aoife and Connor made every effort to free Seamus's hand, but to no avail.

Ga: Bhí sé socraithe go docht.
En: It was firmly stuck.

Ga: Ansin, tháinig smaoineamh cliste chuig Aoife.
En: Then, a clever thought occurred to Aoife.

Ga: "Tógaimid ola ón mbialann agus déanfaimid sleamhnú do láimh amach," a dúirt sí.
En: "Let's take oil from the cafeteria and use it to slide his hand out," she said.

Ga: Le sin, rith Connor go tapaidh chun roinnt ola a fháil.
En: With that, Connor quickly ran to get some oil.

Ga: Tháinig sé ar ais le buidéal beag.
En: He returned with a small bottle.

Ga: Dhoir Aoife an ola thart ar láimh Sheamuis go cúramach.
En: Aoife carefully poured the oil around Seamus's hand.

Ga: Tar éis cúpla bhrú agus tarraingt, sleamhnaigh an láimh saor faoi dheireadh.
En: After a few pushes and pulls, the hand finally slipped free.

Ga: Bhí faoiseamh mór ar Seamus agus é saor.
En: Seamus felt a great relief and was free.

Ga: Ghabh sé buíochas ó chroí lena chairde.
En: He thanked his friends from the bottom of his heart.

Ga: Bhris gáire amach i measc an tslua agus thosaigh Seamus ag magadh faoin eachtra dána.
En: Laughter broke out among the crowd, and Seamus began to jest about the daring incident.

Ga: "Feicfidh tú," a dúirt Seamus ag staonadh óna gháire, "tá an t-ádh orm anois, tar éis gach rud!
En: "You'll see," said Seamus, suppressing his laughter, "I'm lucky now, after everything!"

Ga: "Agus leis sin, chuir an triúr fáilte roimh an lá le croíthe éadroma agus scéal greannmhar le hinsint.
En: And so, the three welcomed the day with light hearts and a funny story to tell.

Ga: Agus cé nach bhfuair Seamus a phóg, fuair sé rud éigin níos fearr – cuimhne bhuan agus gean níos doimhne óna chairde.
En: And while Seamus didn't get his kiss, he gained something even better – lasting memories and deeper affection from his friends.

Ga: De réir an traidisiúin, tá an-seans go mbeadh an bheannacht caintiúil le fáil aige fós, mar gur fhoghlaim sé gur le chéile a thagann an t-ádh is fearr.
En: According to tradition, there's a good chance he'll still have the gift of eloquence, as he learned that the best luck comes from togetherness.
