On Wednesday 14 April 2021 the Victorian Game Management Authority announced their latest aerial survey results of duck populations and declared, given the larger than expected duck numbers, an expanded bag limit of 5 ducks a day (up from 2) would be permitted. Western Victorian MLC in the state Legislative Council, and representative of the Animal Justice Party, Andy Meddick MLC, was scathing of the decision.
