While never my favorite "genre" there are some real gems from this time period, with strong musicianship and melodies throughout. Although the qualifiers may be arbitrary - Hall & Oates are yacht rock, but Fleetwood Mac are not(?) - it cannot be denied that many slower jams, filled with synths and acoustic guitars, were prevalent on the radio.
Many of these artists were as rooted in R&B as they were in folk and rock & roll. Where exactly is the line between "blue eyed soul" and "yacht rock"?
And how did Jimmy Buffet become the king of the entire sub-genre?!
