Have you ever wondered about what happens to your lovely helium balloon once it slips its string and sails off into the wild blue yonder? Well scientists are finding more and more bits of balloon, and even whole ones, in the stomachs of sea birds and turtles. Once they have been swallowed and get into the gut, they can hurt, starve and even kill the animals that eat them according to marine biologist, Dr Jennifer Lavers.
