also was seen in “The Big Ask,” directed by Thomas Beatty and Rebecca Fishman; “Tug,” opposite Yeardley Smith (THE SIMPSONS); “Surfer, Dude,” alongside Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson; and “The Hitcher,” opposite Sophia Bush. Other credits include the 2004 romantic comedy “The Prince and Me,” opposite Julia Stiles and Miranda Richardson; the drama “The Mudge Boy,” opposite Emile Hirsch; and “Cherry Falls,” alongside Brittany Murphy.
In television, Knighton previously starred as “Dr. Bryce Varley” in the sci-fi thriller “FlashForward,” as well as in FOX’s comedy series “Life on a Stick.” He has been a guest star on “Parenthood,” “Wilfred” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” as well as having made appearances on “House, MD,” “Law & Order,” “Ed” and “Related.” In addition to his series credits, he appeared in the cable film “Sally Hemmings: An American Scandal.”
He also has expanded his body of work with several theatrical productions. Some of his stage credits include “The Pumpkin Pie Show,” the off-Broadway play “Birdy, Madame Melville” and “Endgame.” For his standout performance in “Equus,” Knighton was nominated for the Irene Ryan Award.
Knighton received his B.F.A. in theater from Virginia Commonwealth University and studied abroad at Oxford University, where he further honed his craft. Currently, Knighton resides in Los Angeles, where he enjoys surfing and sailing.
