These are questions that have been weighing on the minds of many people for quite a long time now. Even today, with all our advances in technology and in science, we still cannot say with any certainty whether or not we are the only intelligent lifeform in this universe. There are estimated to be over 100 billion galaxies in this universe, and there may be as many as 100 billion planets in each galaxy. If just one out of every million stars in our galaxy has a planet capable of supporting life similar to ours, and if only one out of every million planets has a similar race of sentient lifeforms, that would make 10 million such civilizations in the Milky Way.
