In Asphodel, Daphne finds herself far from home, much like the resilient plant of the same name that flourishes in distant lands. At nearly 17, she seizes her first taste of freedom, yearning to escape the painful reality of her fathers indifference and the haunting absence of her mother, who vanished in the South of France. As the butchers daughter from Oxford Street, she navigates a world where she can manipulate her friends choices and indulge in a fantasy romance with a nameless man. But returning home forces her to confront the harsh truths of her past and strive for her fathers elusive love, all while seeking her place beside her cherished older half-sister. Will Daphnes journey lead her to the acceptance and love she craves, or will her past mistakes come back to haunt her? - Summary by Stav Nisser.
