10 MAY 2022 · What should you know before entering the publishing world? In this episode, we are focusing on a quote from Alice in Wonderland, not necessarily from the book by Lewis Carroll, but from the 1951 Disney movie: “I was just giving myself some good advice.” And we received a lot of great advice that we are sharing with you, including from the impeccable Kayla Romberger, who has worked in the independent publishing world for many years and runs an art bookstore—dedicated mostly to selling independently published books or short-run publications on art, design, and theory.
And then we'll also hear from Rachel Rosenfelt, Founding Editor of The New Inquiry, last year's BackMatter Editor in Chief Miko Yoshida, and Jon Baskin, who started a magazine called The Point and is our fearless leader this semester alongside Kayla.
This is a podcast about the making of the publication BackMatter, an annual print magazine created by graduate students at The New School, ourselves included, in the city of New York.
