show moreAt birth, each person’s destiny is transcribed onto a sacred scroll by the Seers—guardians of the Vault of Ink. Once a scroll is written, it cannot be altered. The people of Vaelir live by the words sealed in their fate: who they will love, what they will do, and when they will die.
But Ara has no scroll.
Seventeen years ago, her name was called at the Ceremony of Threads—and the ink did nothing. The quill hovered. The page remained blank. No fate was written, and no explanation was given. Marked as Unwritten, Ara has lived her life as an anomaly—an echo in a world ruled by certainty.
When a child’s scroll begins to fade unexpectedly and strange anomalies ripple across the realm, the Seers grow fearful. They believe Ara is the cause—proof that something ancient and dangerous is awakening.
Forced to flee, Ara joins Kael, a blind exile who once served the Vault and now hunts forbidden truths. Together, they travel toward the Inkheart Temple, the rumored birthplace of the original ink—drawn from the veins of gods. Along the way, Ara uncovers others like her, souls whose destinies are unraveling.
As the balance of fate begins to crack, Ara learns a devastating truth: the scrolls were not gifts. They were cages. And the ink, once a divine blessing, may have been a chain forged in shadow.
Now, she must choose—restore the ink’s control, or destroy the system that defines every life in Vaelir.
Because what came before the ink... is awakening.
