Start your day with a blend of encouraging music and words of hope as we talk with you about things that matter to your life today.
21 NOV 2024 · If you've ever tried to talk in a language you don't speak well, you know it's tough. Adam, a waiter in Canada, felt the same way. He already spoke English and French, but many of his customers spoke Cree. So, he started learning it. Now, when he greets his Cree-speaking guests in their own language, their faces light up. It's amazing how a few words can make such a big difference. For Adam, speaking Cree isn't just about words; it’s about connecting with people and showing them love, just like Jesus taught us.
21 NOV 2024 · As we countdown to Thanksgiving, we often talk about giving thanks and counting our blessings. But it’s not always easy, especially when times are tough. The Bible nudges us to find thankfulness in every situation.
Philippians 4:6 reminds us: "Don't be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
And Colossians 2:6-8 encourages us: "Then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."
Even when life feels unfair, remember, the hope we have in Jesus is something we can always be thankful for.
20 NOV 2024 · When you reminisce about your past, what do you miss the most? For 97-year-old Ilagene, it was her time on the cheerleading team. She shared this with the staff at her assisted living home, and they cooked up a heartwarming surprise: they invited her old high school's cheer team to perform for her.
They didn’t stop there - they even gifted Ilagene her very own uniform and pom-poms. Ilagene had a chance to share how she started the cheer team all those years ago. What a beautiful moment of connecting the past with the present!
20 NOV 2024 · Down but not out. This powerful phrase really hits home when life throws its hardest punches.
Micah 7:8 reminds us, even in the darkest times, that we are never truly defeated: "Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."
Troubles will come; it's guaranteed. But so is God's promise to be our light in the darkness, guiding us back to our feet. If you're feeling overwhelmed, remember, you're not alone. God is with you, ready to lift you from despair and shine light on your path.
19 NOV 2024 · In life, sometimes the greatest gifts come from unexpected places. Sandy's story is a testament to that. Her husband got a new chance at life thanks to a liver transplant from a stranger. Moved by this, Sandy decided to give the same gift to someone else. She ended up donating part of her liver to a baby boy who needed it.
Just imagine, because of Sandy, this little boy has a whole life ahead of him. It’s amazing how a moment of kindness can echo God's love and change lives forever.
19 NOV 2024 · Reading Matthew 19 this week, something really caught my attention. Jesus asks a simple question when challenged in verse 4: "Have you not read?" It made me pause. When Satan tempted Him, Jesus responded, "It is written," but with these guys, He throws the ball in their court.
This line, "Have you not read?" isn't just a question; it's a challenge. It's like Jesus is saying, "You should know this from the scriptures." And it hit me: am I digging into the Bible enough? Knowing God's word isn't just about reading; it's about understanding His will for our lives. Let’s make sure we're not just flipping pages but really soaking up what God is telling us.
18 NOV 2024 · Meet Pancake, Croissant, and Donut. No, they're not breakfast, they're fluffy chickens from a cool Texas nonprofit called Healing Hens.
This group brings chickens to senior living places to brighten the residents' days. They just set up their first coop in Dallas with these three hens. Residents get to feed, pet, and hang out with them. It's a big hit - turns out, a little chicken company can do a lot for the spirit!
18 NOV 2024 · It's said that we spend two years learning to talk and a lifetime learning when not to. This week, Proverbs 18:2 struck me with its truth: "A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion."
How often do we find ourselves speaking when we should be listening? Ephesians 4:29 offers further guidance, instructing us, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs that it may benefit those who listen."
It’s about speaking with purpose and listening with intent.
15 NOV 2024 · Ever found something precious you thought was lost forever? In North Carolina, Taylor’s been turning hurricane debris into treasured reunions.
After Hurricane Helene, she started finding washed-away family photos and used social media to return them. One photo she returned was of a mom with her sons, one of whom had passed away. So far, she's given back about 200 memories. For families who thought their photos were lost forever, it’s like reclaiming a piece of their history.
15 NOV 2024 · As the year wraps up, many of us think about year-end giving to lessen our tax burdens and support causes we care about. But imagine understanding the tax code perfectly and still not paying your taxes... that's knowing without doing. Similarly, knowing the Bible isn’t enough; it’s about living it out.
James 1:22 tells us, “Don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you're only fooling yourselves.”
It's a reminder that our faith should influence our actions, not just our knowledge. Let’s not just read the Word; let’s actively live it in our daily lives.
Start your day with a blend of encouraging music and words of hope as we talk with you about things that matter to your life today.
