13 APR 2021 · My overall thoughts on "Children of Blood and Bone" by Tomi Adeyemi. I was very impressed with the character development. I loved how each character had such a strong personality, and especially how all the characters had pretty unique personalities. Another thing I felt that the author did very well was creating build-up, and a back story. I believe that some of the relationships could have been improved a bit (talked about in episode 2), but other than that I was quite impressed! I would recommend.
12 APR 2021 · Welcome to episode 2! Here I talk about what I feel could have been done better, and specifically one character relationship which I was a bit disappointed with. I feel that there could have been a lot more build up to the relationship between Inan and Amari. I was super excited when they started getting these "dreams" about each-other, especially since they had hated one-another. I expected a bit of a build up to a relationship, but instead it was just kind of given right away. To me, it felt like they hated each-other, and then one day they just started dating. I feel this relationship was a bit rushed.
12 APR 2021 · Hi, and welcome to my podcast! This is episode 1, where I discuss Zelie's personality, and why she might act the way she does. Zelie is a very sharp character who can sometimes come off a rude. She is constantly being rude to people who try to be nice. I believe this is a trauma response. Zelie went though A LOT at a relatively young age (watching your mother die, then being left with a kingdom that has just lost all its powers, along with sense-of-self). This could cause Zelie to become subconsciously afraid of loosing people. This is a perfect example of how trauma can impact a person.
