4 NOV 2026 · Asha Degree vanished from Shelby, North Carolina in February 2000. Newly unsealed search warrants reveal text messages between members of the Dedmon family -- "The theory is I did it. Accident. Covered it up" and "Idk what to do. I caused this" -- sent in September 2024 while the FBI searched their properties. DeepCold examines the warrants, the party confession, the polygraphs, the mysterious New Kids on the Block shirt that was never Asha's, the DNA results from the buried backpack, and where the case stands today: five named suspects, no charges, no body found.
No one named in this episode has been arrested or charged with a crime. All deny involvement.

3 NOV 2026 · Night of the Grizzlies: on one August night in 1967, two grizzly bears killed two teenage girls, Julie Helgeson and Michele Koons, hours and miles apart in Glacier National Park, Montana. In 57 years the park had never recorded a fatal grizzly attack. This true crime wildlife mystery asks why it happened twice in a single night, and the answer runs through garbage dumps, tourist spectacles, and a park policy that trained wild predators to link the scent of people with dinner.
In this DeepCold episode: the lightning-torn night of August 12-13, 1967; the Granite Park Chalet garbage gully where biologist Dave Shea shot a dump-feeding sow hours before the first attack; Julie Helgeson, 19, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Roy Ducat's midnight encounter a quarter mile from the chalet; the makeshift operating table and her death at 4:12 a.m.; Michele Koons, 19, of San Diego, California, and the stuck sleeping-bag zipper at Trout Lake; the four campers who waited more than two hours in the trees; ranger Bert Gildart's radio call and the impossible second knock at the door; the armed reckoning that left four bears dead; the necropsy that found glass in a starving sow's gums; and the theories that missed, from lightning agitation to sleeping-bag confusion. The legacy: America's first modern bear management policies, bear-proof garbage cans, food-hang cables, and backcountry permits, and the reporting of Jack Olsen, whose 1969 book Night of the Grizzlies gave the maulings their name.

2 NOV 2026 · The Baby Hope cold case is one of Indiana's most haunting true crime mysteries. In April 1994, a newborn girl was found stabbed to death in a trash can at Temple Park in Franklin, Indiana. Thirty-one years later, genetic genealogy identified her parents — and the father who never knew she existed gave her a name: Hope Shepherd.
This DeepCold episode reconstructs the full story: the April 13, 1994 discovery by two boys collecting recyclables, the autopsy that ruled the hours-old infant's death a homicide, the Franklin community that paid for her funeral and tended her Greenlawn Cemetery grave for three decades, the hundreds of dead-end leads across the country, and the 2019 reopening that brought in Parabon Nanolabs and forensic genealogy.
In July 2025, Franklin Police Chief Kirby Cochran announced at a press conference at Greenlawn Cemetery that Baby Hope's mother was Cheryl Dawn Larson, who died in 2018, and her father was Paul Richard Shepherd — who never knew he had a daughter and cooperated fully with investigators. The killer has never been found. The investigation remains open.

1 NOV 2026 · The Terri Ackerman case is one of Colorado's most haunting true crime mysteries. In August 2018, 56-year-old Terri Ackerman vanished from her Lochbuie, Colorado home in broad daylight, leaving her purse, phone, keys and car behind. Seven years later, her remains were found in a detached garage just steps from her house — a garage police had searched around with cadaver dogs three times.
This true crime episode reconstructs the full timeline: the August 24, 2018 disappearance from 130 Poplar Street, the massive search with drones, cadaver dogs and RAMPART Search and Rescue that found nothing, the suspicion cast on her husband Delbert "Dale" Ackerman — never charged, now deceased — and the September 10, 2025 discovery by a man clearing junk before a property sale, who at first thought a human bone was a Halloween decoration.
The Weld County coroner's autopsy found Terri's remains significantly decomposed and partially mummified, with no obvious signs of trauma, no projectiles on X-ray, and only her prescribed bipolar medication in her toxicology. Her cause of death remains undetermined. The Lochbuie Police Department's investigation is active.

31 OCT 2026 · The Jennifer Kesse case is no longer cold. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has found new DNA in previously untested evidence and narrowed its persons-of-interest list. This true crime cold case episode reconstructs the 2006 disappearance of 24-year-old Jennifer Kesse from Orlando, Florida, and the stunning 2025 announcement that changed everything.
Jennifer Kesse vanished on the morning of January 24, 2006. Her black Chevrolet Malibu was found abandoned a mile from her condo two days later, and a security camera captured an unidentified person parking the car and walking away. In every frame, a fence post blocked the person's face. No arrest has ever been made, and Jennifer has never been found.
This episode covers the full timeline: the vanishing, the phantom on the surveillance tape, the construction workers who scattered before detectives could question them, the family's 2018 lawsuit that forced the release of 16,000 pages of case files, the FDLE takeover in late 2022, and the October 2025 announcement by her father Drew Kesse — new DNA, a greatly reduced list of persons of interest, AI re-analysis of the fence footage, and the words the family waited twenty years to hear: the case is not cold.

30 OCT 2026 · The Princes in the Tower — Edward V and his brother Richard, who vanished inside the Tower of London in 1483 — have a new clue after 500 years. A true crime cold case episode on the oldest unsolved mystery in English history.
Professor Tim Thornton of the University of Huddersfield found a chain once owned by Edward V named in a will written thirty-three years after the princes disappeared. The will of Lady Margaret Capell, half-sister of the wife of Sir James Tyrell — the man Thomas More accused of murdering the boys — bequeaths a chain identified as belonging to "Yonge kynge Edward the Vth." Royal chains of office were identity made metal. Thornton calls it the first reference in more than five centuries to any physical item belonging to one of the princes.
This episode reconstructs the whole case: the death of Edward IV in April 1483, the boys lodged in the Tower, Richard III's coronation, the vanishing in the summer of 1483, Thomas More's accusation against James Tyrell, the bones found under a Tower staircase in 1674, the sealed urn in Westminster Abbey, and the rival theory of Philippa Langley's Missing Princes Project.

29 OCT 2026 · Pee Wee Gaskins murdered Martha Ann Dicks in 1972. Her remains were found in a Sumter County drainage ditch in 1997, sent to the College of Charleston for study, and lost in a closet for 28 years — until a cardboard box was handed to a coroner in June 2025. This true crime episode reconstructs the last recovered victim of South Carolina's most prolific serial killer.
On June 13, 2025, a box of human remains was recovered from a closet on the College of Charleston campus. At a South Carolina coroners' conference that month, a fellow coroner handed the cardboard box to Sumter County coroner Robbie Baker. Inside were fragments of a skull and bones. DNA identified them as Martha Ann Dicks, nineteen, last seen leaving a nightclub in Sumter in March 1972. Her siblings had died without answers; only nieces and nephews remained to plan the memorial that had waited fifty-three years.
Donald "Pee Wee" Gaskins (1933-1991) confessed to poisoning her — spiking her Coca-Cola with battery acid after rumors linked the two of them. He told shifting stories: that he was the father of her unborn child, that she was a drug dealer, that she had run off to Texas. None of it held. His confirmed toll was thirteen victims: his teenage niece Janice Kirby and her friend Patricia Alsbrook in 1970, Doreen Hope Dempsey and her two-year-old daughter Robin in 1973, and eight people buried in shallow graves near his Prospect home, found after the 1975 disappearance of thirteen-year-old Kim Gehlken. Sentenced to death in 1976, overturned in 1978, then ten concurrent life sentences. In 1982 he murdered death-row inmate Rudolph Tyner with a C4 bomb hidden in a radio, earning a second death sentence. He was executed on September 6, 1991.

28 OCT 2026 · Stefanie Damron, a 13-year-old from New Sweden, Maine, walked into the woods after an argument with her sister on September 23, 2024, and was never seen again. This true crime episode reconstructs the disappearance of Stefanie Damron: one of the largest missing-person searches in Aroostook County history, an off-grid family with no digital trail to follow, the FBI's $15,000 reward, and two years without a single confirmed sighting.
Thirteen-year-old Stefanie Damron left her family's home on West Road in New Sweden, Maine, on September 23, 2024, after an argument with her sister. She walked into the nearby woods to cool off. She never came home. She was reported missing the next morning. The Damrons lived off the grid: twenty acres, a yurt home, no running water, no indoor plumbing, power from a generator. That meant almost no digital trail for investigators to follow - no phone, no texts, no location pings. The Maine State Police, the Maine Warden Service, and the FBI searched with K-9 teams, drones, and grid searches. In December 2024 the FBI announced a $15,000 reward and placed Stefanie on the FBI Most Wanted Kidnappings and Missing Persons list. Planned searches continued in May 2025 and again on September 17-18, 2026. Her family organized their own searches. No confirmed sighting has ever been reported. She would have turned 16 on October 6, 2026. The case remains open and active. Anyone with information is asked to call the Maine State Police Houlton Barracks at 1-800-924-2261 or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

27 OCT 2026 · Jonathan Luna was a 38-year-old federal prosecutor from Baltimore who left his office near midnight on December 3, 2003, and was found the next morning stabbed 36 times, face down in a shallow Pennsylvania creek. This true crime episode reconstructs his baffling overnight drive through three states, the long-sealed autopsy now unsealed, and the homicide ruling the FBI disputed for two decades.
On the night of December 3-4, 2003, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Luna drove from Baltimore through Delaware and New Jersey into Lancaster County, Pennsylvania - paying cash at toll booth after toll booth despite an active E-ZPass, withdrawing $200 from an ATM at 12:57 a.m., and buying gas at 3:20 a.m. - before his Honda Accord was found idling near a creek, his body in the water. The Lancaster County coroner ruled homicide: 36 stab wounds, defensive cuts on the hands, blunt force trauma, and freshwater drowning. The FBI leaned toward suicide, saying he was alone all night. Sealed in 2020, the full autopsy was finally released in 2025: wounds "consistent with the use of a can opener, spike, knife" and an unopened penknife at the scene bearing no blood. A second blood type and a partial fingerprint were found in the car. No suspect has ever been identified. No motive established. A $100,000 federal reward sits unclaimed. The investigation remains open.

26 OCT 2026 · Jennifer Kesse disappeared from her Orlando condo in January 2006 and was never seen again. Now, twenty years later, previously untested DNA evidence has emerged in the Kesse case, and investigators say the list of persons of interest has shrunk to a short list. In this DeepCold episode, we reconstruct the timeline of the 2006 disappearance: the wet towel, the laid-out work clothes, the abandoned black Malibu at Texas and Americana, and the faceless figure behind the fence. Then we examine what the new DNA findings can and cannot prove.
DeepCold investigates unresolved mysteries with careful, sourced storytelling. Jennifer Kesse remains classified as missing and endangered by the FBI, the FDLE, and Interpol. Her family announced the existence of previously untested DNA evidence in October 2025; no match and no arrest has been announced. The persons of interest, the surveillance footage, and the family's claims are presented as reported, not as established fact.
