27 MAR 2019 · The simple answer to this is yes. If you are doing any type of groundworks, then unless you can see through the soil, you need a GPR survey. So, why is carrying out such a survey so important?
Quite simply undertaking a GPR survey allows you to get the best possible view of what is going on below ground level. It allows you to see underground in the same way as BIM modelling services allow you to see above ground. This means that whether you are an archaeologist looking for hidden treasures or a builder looking for pipes and sinkholes, you can see what is likely to be there before you spend money, time, and effort digging up the whole site. It reduces the time it takes to put the surrounding area right as you need fewer exploratory digs and reduces the risk of causing damage to existing ground and pipe works.
However, a GPR survey is only as good as the team carrying out the work and the knowledge of those interpreting the results. This is why you need to ensure that you only use an experienced and knowledgeable survey team.
