27 JUN 2024 · There is so much goodness in this episode you can eat it and it will be sweet, filling, healthy and sugar-free!  We are joined this week by Krysta's non-binary sibling, Blue Boese!  Krys goes to her corner to finish telling us about the cartoons that influenced her most as a child.  We also focus on telling the tale of One-Eyed Charley Parkhurst.  Charley was one of the roughest, toughest, hardest-drinking, most coarse and foul-mouthed fellow to ever drive a six horse coach.  Charley was famed on the west coast for his abilities.  So it was with some womder that when he died a few years later, his neighbors were quite shocked to discover that Charley had been born a woman.  One of the greatest 'whips' of his age being a woman was so incredible that it made national news.  We cover all this in this very special PRIDE episode of the Family Plot Podcast!

13 JUN 2024 · Man do we have a wonderful 201st episode for you!  Ever heard of the Hammersmith Ghost Murder?  Neither had we but oh, do we get into it!! And in her corner Krysta introduces us to poodle moths!  Beautiful, well, unless you look at them up close.  We also discuss Hawk Moths, Death's Head Moths and of course, Lunar Moths before diving back into this case where a ghost was troubling the Hammersmith area of London in 1804!  During this harrowing time, Francis Smith shoots and kills bricklayer Thomas Millwood, thinking he is the ghost.  This leads to an important case in British Law in this true crime, English Law Episode of the Family Plot Podcast.  PS:  The name of the British show in the Law and Order franchise is Law & Order:  UK.

30 MAY 2024 · This week, we go back to the 1850's to meet a writer named Ambrose Bierce.  A man who could trace his family back to the Puritans and didn't care one whit.  A man who fought in the Civil War so he could help see slavery abolished.  A man who wrote against what he saw as the evils of his day even standing between a railroad magnate and his company trying to arrange to have a loan given them by the government forgiven.  His stories told tales of war and horror and he inspired writers like Stephen Crane and H. P. Lovecraft.  He also disappeared mysteriously and to this day no one knows exactly how or why in this crazy episode of the Family Plot Podcast!

23 MAY 2024 · So this episode is so chock full of goodness, you might need a cookie and a glass of milk to wash it down.  In her corner, Krys reads us some very short horror stories.  Then we go all in on Zheng Yi Sao aka Shang Yi aka Ching Shih.  We talk about her early life, of which we know very little, her meeting and marrying one of the greatest pirates of her time, how she came to control the ragtag fleet she did and just what a smart combatant she was.  We discuss the death of her first husband, her continued command of the rag-tag band of pirates and how she retired and lived like a queen in this man I wish I knew more about this amazing person episode of the Family Plot Podcast!

16 MAY 2024 · In this episode we once again go deep into the history of Fairy Tales.  Laura opens with Snow White and we hear the familiar tale in all it's glory.  Then, in Krysta's Corner, she shares a book that touched her while reading it at school as well as shares her own found fairy tale, the Six Swans! Then we look into the origins of Snow White and how it might actually be based on a true story, including little men...kinda.  Then Krysta reads us Pinocchio (did you know there's a cricket in the actual story?  Know that it gets squished?  Sorry Jiminy!)  And we wrap up with a discussion of Hansel & Gretel in this Folklore heavy episode of the Family Plot Podcast!

25 APR 2024 · This episode is PACKED with goodness.  Krysta talks Black Velvet Petunias in her corner a wondrous and beautiful flower.  Then she, Laura and Dean discuss the Maiden's Castle at Edinburgh.  They discuss Castle Rock, how there has been a fortified structure on it since at least the Iron Age and it's status as the most besieged castle in all of Britain.  We talk about Kings and Queens who have called it home as well as those who have made changes to it.  We also discuss the guns that defended it and of course all the ghost stories and their originss in this Scottish History, but a lot paranormal episode of the Family Plot Podcast!
