14 SEP 2026 · In this episode, Cassandra Vonnes, DNP, GNP-BC, APRN, AOCNP, CPHQ, FAHA, a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, and member of the GAPNA Communication Team, talks with Roslyn M. Compton, PhD, MEd, RN, GNC(C), DipHScN, BHScN, GDAET, an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and Director of Education for the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association.
Dr. Compton reflects on how her global nursing experiences have helped her understand older adults, and how cultural and societal norms not only impact patients, but also their health care providers. She highlights what she has learned about gerontological nursing, working with partners across different fields and backgrounds, and the importance of listening to and maintaining lifestyle of older adults.
Roslyn M. Compton, PhD, MEd, RN, GNC(C), DipHScN, BHScN, GDAET, is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Additionally, Dr. Compton has served as the Director of Education for the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association since 2023 and as Associate Editor of their official journal, Perspectives.
Cassandra Vonnes, DNP, GNP-BC, APRN, AOCNP, CPHQ, FAHA, is the Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) Coordinator, Geriatric Oncology, at the Moffitt Cancer Center, in Tampa, Florida. She is a member of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association Communication Team and is a host of the GAPNA Chat podcast series.
