Friends since high school give each other and their listeners pop culture homework in five subjects: Books, Movies, TV, Comics, and Music. New Lessons every month.
31 DEC 2022 · Welcome to our FINAL Homework: The Podcast. Sort of. We'll be switiching to a new channel next year, like when Family Matters moved to CBS and they replaced the mom. Ok hopefully not like that, but this is our last show on the Gaff Network, our home since we started this podcast. Anyway, in this one we talk about Top Gun: Maverick and we manage to stay on-topic for almost a record amount of time! So we're going out on a high note.

24 DEC 2022 · Welcome to our FINAL Holiday Special, where we talk about A Garfield Chrismas from 1987. If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, this was a Christmas tradition. John has it on DVD! So join us as we discuss Garfield, The Ghostbusters, and the shock of Jose's life.

18 DEC 2022 · Welcome to our second Holiday Special, about the 1938 version of A Christmas Carol, starring Reginald Owen as Scrooge. Every version has to try to make the story their own, and in this one, Bob Cratchit is FIRED after accidentally pelting Scrooge with a snowball and getting his top hat run over by a horse and carriage. And Tiny Tim should not be left alone with birds.

10 DEC 2022 · Welcome to our Holiday Special, about the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. That's right, it's our Holiday Special Holiday Special! As usual, expect some banter about Marvel's latest Disney+ Special along with random bits of completely unrelated topics and wildly inaccurate trivia with no real-time fact-checking!

3 DEC 2022 · Welcome back to Lesson 15! We're closing out this lesson with the Avengers, who came back 25 years ago in a story that sees nearly everyone who's ever been an Avenger attacked, even D-Man! It's the start of an exciting new era for the Avengers comics, but If that's not enough to give this one a listen, stick around when we inexplicably start talking about Daniel Craig era Bond.

20 NOV 2022 · Welcome back to Lesson 15! Chapter 5 is Jose's movie pick, Dante's Peak, about a long-dormant volcano called Dante's Peak that suddenly erupts over the town of...Dante's Peak. That'll cost them the title of second best place to live (population under 20,000) for sure.

5 NOV 2022 · Welcome back to Lesson 15! Only 90s kids will remember! In 1997, The once great city of New York became the one maximum security prison for the entire country. A fifty-foot containment wall was erected along the New Jersey shoreline, across the Harlem River, and down along the Brooklyn shoreline. It completely surrounded Manhattan Island. All bridges and waterways were mined. The United States Police Force, like an army, was encamped around the island. There were no guards inside the prison, only prisoners and the worlds they have made. The rules were simple: once you go in, you don't come out.
Yes, this week, we're talking about John Carpenter's Escape From New York. Released in 1981 but set in an even drearier 1997 than I remember, where everyone is miserable except for the eternally happy Ernest Borgnine who just loves driving his cab.

22 OCT 2022 · Welcome back to Lesson 15! Everything in this lesson involves 1997, the year this week's subject debuted their self-titled album. All Saints are an English girl group, and Jose kept this album in his car back in the day, even though John has no memory of it. But it's apparently UK's third-best selling girl group album of all time. Huh. John's still never heard any of these songs before. Not these versions, anyway.

8 OCT 2022 · Welcome to Lesson 15! Everything in this lesson will involve the year 1997. First up, we're going back to King of the Hill, which debuted in January '97. The episode we're looking it is "Shins of the Father" which introduced the world to Hank's dad Cotton Hill.
