29 JUN 2023 · Tommy Ibrahim, MD, MHA, is President & CEO of Bassett Healthcare Network in New York. In this capacity, he carries on the organization’s century-long tradition of fostering healthy rural communities through innovation and collaborative partnerships.
Anticipating the convergence of rural health needs and emerging technologies, Tommy established strategic partnerships with United Health’s Optum business and technology services and Silicon Valley’s iconic Andreessen Horowitz Bio + Health fund that backs entrepreneurs building the future of medicine through technology with early-stage venture capital.
Bassett’s 90-year partnership with Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons has expanded under Tommy’s tenure to include cardiovascular telehealth with Columbia’s renowned Irving Medical Center.
Tommy earned his MD in Cambridge, England, and is currently pursuing an MBA through Columbia University Business School. He earned a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration at Seton Hall University and did his residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
Board certified in internal medicine, Tommy is a hospitalist. He is a Fellow in Hospital Medicine (FHM), Fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), and Certified Physician Executive (CPE) by the American Academy of Physician Leaders. Tommy completed Basic LEAN/Six Sigma training at the University of Michigan and earned advanced certifications at Cornell University.
