25 MAR 2026 · Welcome back to the IAFF 7th District Podcast! After a long hiatus, we are back with a new format. We will be coming to you live, and with a video format streamed on our online platforms.
Join us for Episdode 15 as Reece and Ricky dive into The Save Act, voter restriction legislation that is curruenty being debated in the senate that could significantly impact your ability to vote.
This is a great introductory eposide for our new format with call in discussion and debate surrounding all sides of the issues regarding “election security” in the United States. We are joined by Curtis Smith from the Professional Fire Fighters of Idaho, Shayne Wescott from the Alaska Professional Fire Fighters, Lara McLean from the Ketchum Idaho Fire Fighters, and Tim Hoover IAFF DFSR and WSCFF District Rep.

IAFF 7th District Vice President Ricky Walsh and DFSR/PFFI Secretary Treasurer Curtis Smith discuss how it benefits our members, the citizens we serve, and the elected officials in our jurisdictions by attending this program.
IAFF Service Representative/PR Committee Chair Reece Williams sits down with Idaho Governor Brad Little to talk about his personal experience having attending Fire Ops and how it is a helpful way for lawmakers to better understand the needs of the Fire service by actually spending a day in the life of a Firefighter.
Travis Leonard (RIchland Firefighters) and Josh Zimmerly (Boise Firefighters), IAFF members serving as lead incident commanders for Fire Ops 101 discuss what participants experience out on the drill ground.

1 FEB 2019 · Join us in Olympia Washington for episode 9 as we kick off the Washington State Council of Firefighters 2019 Kelly Fox Legislative Conference. In this episode we had the opportunity to sit down with the Washington State Council of Firefighters Legislative team, as well as special guests Governor Jay Inslee, Senator Kevin Van De Wege, and Lt. Governor Cyrus Habib to discuss current issues during the 2019 legislative session. Nich Gullickson and Bud Sizemore discuss WSCFF legislative platform issues such as presumptive disease expasion, funding the LEOFF 2 benefit expansion account, and safeguarding members personal information related to PTSD claims. Governor Jay Inslee discusses the importance of Firefighters being invloved in the legislative process, as well as landmark legislation that has been implemented in recent years in Washington State. Senator Kevin Van De Wege talks about his experience working as both a Legislator and Firefighter, and the importance of getting involved. Lt. Governor Cyrus Habib gives an overview of the "three hats" he frequently wears while serving as Lt. Governor.
