The May issue of L’Uomo is entirely dedicated to the dream of a united Europe: a free and strong land without borders, a generation’s project for peace. It features a series of love letters to our homeland, written and photographed by artists, creatives, photographers and philosophers. And it also presents contributions by four authors from other continents who observe us from afar and describe us with their words. 23 MAY 2019 · Tishani Doshi (born Madras, India, 1975) was awarded the 2006 Forward Poetry Prize for her first collection of poetry, Countries of the Body. Doshi was raised in Chennai and lived in the US and UK before moving to Venice with her husband, the Italian writer Carlo Pizzati. She now lives on a beach in Tamil Nadu.

23 MAY 2019 · Stefan Merrill Block (born Plano, US, 1982) is the author of Oliver Loving (published in Italy by Neri Pozza and a finalist for the Premio von Rezzori, Florence, 3-6 June), which is being developed for TV. Since 2008, Stefan has spent part of each year writing in Europe, most often in Italy.

23 MAY 2019 · Richard Mason (born Johannesburg, South Africa, 1978) is the son of anti-Apartheid activists who brought him to the UK when he was aged ten. His first novel, The Drowning People (1999 published by Einaudi in Italy), sold more than a million copies in over 20 countries.

23 MAY 2019 · David Leavitt (born Pittsburgh,US,1961) published his first story, Territory, in The New Yorker in 1981. In 1993 he travelled to Italy intending to stay a year, and ended up staying until 2000.
