Welcome to my Audio Curriculum! During this audio experience, you will listen to who I am, my job experiences, education, languages and what I love to do in my free time.
Why I've decided to launch an audio CV? The simple answer is: I need a job.
After 3 years of freelancing I've realized that is not the path that I want to take, right now, I feel the need to go out of my comfort zone e and face my true self.
Podcasting is one of the things that I do best, so I've decided to spice it up a bit and create an audio CV in English.
If you will hear something interesting, don't hesitate to call me.

The big question is: where I would like to work?
My dream job would be in ate audio industry, more specifically in the world of podcasting.
Yeah, OK, but what can you offer us?
What I do best is create audio-video content, where, most of the time I put both my face and my voice.
Being a Youtuber is not something I regret too much, but I would also like to do it for a company.
In concrete terms, I can offer my audio-video skills by working as a podcast editor, the sound guy for your productions or as a content creator for your social channels.
As I said before, a company working with podcasts would be my dream, but, of course, you have to face reality and, sometimes, make compromises.
I am open to any offer you have in mind :)

Who am I?
My full name is Tommaso Gobbo, I'm about to turn 29 and I live in a small town in the North East of Italy called Duino-Aurisina.
At the beginning of summer 2021, I decided to leave the city center and live a little more isolated, thinking I was making the right choice.... it turned out to be one of my biggest mistakes.
I've always been used to living around people thanks to a decade of experience in a family of 4: two little sisters, a very generous mom, and a dad who can never sit still.
From all of this, my superpowers were born: empathy, generosity, respect, and lots and lots of patience. Having three wi men occupy your bathroom for more than an hour has taught me a lot ahahah
I'm only 29 years old, but in my short life I think I've done a lot of things that we will see in the next episode. All these challenges have forced me to dig even deeper into myself and face fears and difficulties that I never thought I would fight alone. But you know, that's life and sooner or later we all have to fight against our true selves and, define who we are.
Over the past few months i've realized that I've lost my superpowers a bit and, now, it's time to acquire them again.
Now you may be asking yourself, why should I hire you?
Well, because I have nothing more to lose... I'll explain: I feel the need to change my life and get out of a comfort zone that I have been in for the past 8 months. I want to find the calm that I had at 22 years old and the desire to live among and not far from people. I want to meet new faces, listen to new life stories, and appreciate humanity for what it is.
Until the end of high school, I dreamed of leaving and finding a job in another city or country, well, now the time has come to fulfil that dream.
Yes, the current situation is not the best to move abroad, but I think this is one of the first challenges that I have to face. (and yes, don't worry, I'm open to working remotely too).
I could stay here talking about me for a long time, but I think the best thing, is to do it live, so in the description, you can find all my contacts and if you just want to chat don't hesitate to do it!
I'll see you in the next episode where I'll tell you about all my work experiences.

In 2019 I decided to become freelance thinking it would be the right path for me, today, I feel it differently. Working as a mercenary, without a team, is just not for me.
But what did I do during these years?
I decided to challenge myself and create audio-video content on platforms like YouTube and podcast and music on Spotify, Google Podcast Apple podcast. On my channel, I create tutorials on the world of podcasting, audio tools and recently a new series dedicated to field recordings, both in video and audio format. In the description you can find all the links, unfortunately, the videos and the podcasts are in Italian, but you can enable the subtitles.
This fantastic experience has made me grow a lot, both professionally and personally, teaching me how to set goals, create an action plan and meet deadlines.
However, the channel is still small and unfortunately, I haven't paid my bills thanks to Youtube.
During my freelance experience, I dedicated myself to the world of audio-video content, working as a podcast editor for Social Media Hacks Italia, an online community dedicated to Social Media and Marketing training, then collaborating with Startup Geeks for the creation of their podcast show and then for smaller podcast projects.
For t years I worked as a video editor, youtube channel manager and graphic designer for Two Young Italian Entrepreneurs, a company based in Dubai that self-publishes books and audiobooks on Amazon. In addition to editing their videos, graphics and managing their youtube channel, I took care of all the audio and video editing for the training courses they launched on platforms like Kajabi.
In the summer of 2021, I worked as a video editor and graphics creator for IvoAvidhold, a company that provides cryptocurrency training courses.
In September of the same year, poof, these collaborations disappeared, without communication, a notice, nada, desaparecido.
Maybe I'll tell you this story another day...
I am also the founder of a podcast series dedicated to underground electronic music that I have been working on for 7 years with 2 close friends. My tasks are to find and contact new international artists to add to our playlist of ambient music, check the quality of the mixtapes we receive and then program and publish the final mix on platforms like Soundcloud, Facebook and Instagram.
As always, you can find the link in the description if you want to have a look at what we do.
But before you became a Freelancer, what did you do?
From 2017 to the end of 2018 I interned as a social media assistant and content creator for the University of Trieste, creating content for social, managing the Instagram profile day by day, organising conferences and events related to science dissemination and, yes the handyman: solving general issues with the software, hardware, moving things from different offices, changing and installing new pcs and the list goes on.....
The previous year I did my national civil service for the same university.
Now, perhaps, I'm going too far back, but another experience that taught me a lot about which path I wanted to take was the internship at Allianz Bank where I learned the secrets of Excel and, at the same time, I figured that being locked in an office 8 hours a day, with a jacket and tie, was not the right choice.
Finally, I've done volunteering for film associations, a seasonal bartender job for music events and a steward in the stadium for football matches. I'm 1.74 m tall imagine how scared the Ultras were of me.
That's all I've done for the last 10 years.

My dad has always been a photographer and I still remember when he put my first camera, a Nikon F90, in my hand. I think this was the moment that sparked in me the love for photography and then for creating audio-video content.
In 2014 I had the opportunity to start working (for free) as a host for this small local web radio and, I began to develop a deep interest in all the hardware needed to be used in a home studio starting from the acoustic treatment, the choice of audio interfaces and microphones, midi controllers, active or passive monitors arriving then, to the choice, especially in recent years, of all the video gear: DSLR or mirrorless, lights and softboxes and so on....
If I have to be honest, in the last three years, I have been much more interested in audio gear, developing a maniacal interest in portable recorders and all types of microphones that can be used in various recording situations: microphones to record the vibrations of surfaces, hydrophones to capture what happens underwater, ambisonic microphones and the classic shotgun to capture sounds in very precise directions.
Of course, there is also the part dedicated to recording voices for a podcast. Here we open Pandora's box and I could suggest a thousand combinations to use.
Ye, Tommy, You told me about microphones, audio interfaces and portable recorders, but then what?
I could call myself a tech guy, I love technology and I always try to keep up with the times. There is also a deep interest in computers and their internal components. When I have some free time I always like to take old laptops apart and try to bring them back to life by changing ram, SSD, thermal paste and so on.... yes, I do that too. My dad taught me the sacred art of being able to do it yourself, to cut costs ahahah
And now, we get to the interesting part... Softwares.
I'm a Windows user but I don't mind using iOS devices either. I still have one of the first iMac all-in-ones at home and it is still working.
As a podcast editor and audio lover, I use Adobe Audition and Studio One Professional almost every day. Sometimes I test other programs like Tascam Podcast Editor, Ableton and Wavelab cast.
The suite of plugins on which I spent most of my hours of study and practice is Izotope: from RX 9 Advanced for the restoration of recordings, Neutron 3 for equalization and compression, then Ozone 9 for all the mastering. Yes, of course, I also use other stuff to spice up my productions.
Many people always ask me: Tommy, which distribution platform should I use for my podcast? I always answer: it depends ahahah
I know Anchor by Spotify, Spreaker, Buzzsprout, RedCircle and I'm still experimenting with other podcast hosting platforms. There's no shortage of analytics, starting with Spotify for Podcasters, Apple Podcast Connect, Google Podcast Manager and Chartable.
You can ask me anything about the world of podcasting.
Talking about videos, images and graphics I use the whole Adobe Suite: Adobe Premiere for my YouTube videos, After Effect for intros, lower thirds and titles, Photoshop and Illustrator for logos, thumbnails and graphics.
I think the perfect combo for a content creator is to combine these programmes with a service like Envato Elements, which on many occasions has saved me long hours of work on a single logo or video.
A couple of months ago I started studying Da Vinci Resolve, but for the moment I'm sticking with Adobe :)
At the beginning of my Youtube career, I was not only talking about podcasts but also about a program I started using in 2014: OBS Studio. On my channel, I made many tutorials on how to optimize the workflow and create quality live streams using external plugins and more. To this day I continue to experiment and I always have a lot of fun.
As a Youtuber, there's also the whole content planning part and besides using a diary and a whiteboard, I use Notion for my scripts and editorial plans. I have always used Excel or the Google suite, but Notion is on another level.
It might be obvious, but for me, it's not: I can do research on the Internet. Everything I know I have learnt by searching in this wonderful reality called web2.0... and yes, now I am also moving forward in web3.0 and the metaverse.
Zoom, Skype, Discord and so on are software that, during the pandemic, I used every day and they do not have any secrets anymore.
To top it off, there is no lack of knowledge of the entire Office suite, Google and Libre.
I the next episode we will talk about my education and, as always, you can find all my contact in the description below.
Have a good one :)

After secondary school, I thought that choosing a vocational school was the right path, following my grandfather's footsteps in the world of finance.
After 5 years of commercial school where I learned the sacred art of accounting and law, I said to myself, well, why not go to university and do the economics course in English?
Well, at the beginning it seemed like a piece of cake, then, at the end of the first year, after repeating the microeconomics exam 7 times, I started asking myself some questions.....
"It's just an exam, I said, what's the big deal, I'll do it....".
After the second year, between the internship at Allianz Bank and the study of these economic and financial subjects, I realised that this was not the path I wanted to take.
My view of education in Italy is not entirely positive and, since I got to know the world of the web, I said to myself: "why learn with books from the 80s and 90s and pay a lot of money, when, with a big effort and research, I can find everything online? Obviously, for some jobs, Uni is mandatory, so don't get me wrong.
Well, that's how it was and maybe you don't agree with me, but the internet can offer a lot more if you are willing to spend hours and hours researching, studying by yourself and repeating the same action day after day.
My mum is not very happy with the choice because she thinks that without a Uni degree I will never be able to find a job, but I am here to prove her wrong.
I'm a very practical guy and making a list of all online courses I've done is not interesting. My experiences and the knowledge you have heard in the previous two episodes are speaking for there self.
I have always hated this system that rewards you for the number on your degree and not for what you actually know. I don't doubt that we can all learn and, myself included, I am light years behind calling myself an expert, but sometimes there should be more honest and real criteria for judging a person who is looking for a job.
If you don't give a damn about numbers on a piece of paper and you are looking for someone who always wants to test himself and never stop learning new things, well, we are on the same wavelength.

Maybe, at this point, you have figured out yourself that English, is not my native language.
I speak Italian and I started learning Spanish again with some apps like Duolingo and using old books from middle school.
I have a B2 prime Cambridge certified exam taken during high school but I think my English has improved a lot thanks to many friends from all over the world, English books and movies.
Travelling around Europe and having conversations with new people helped me a lot to understand that the only way to learn a new language is to practice and go out of your comfort zone.
Still, remember this long conversation that I had with this old man in Germany about beers and music. This guy saved me from taking the wrong train.
During high school, I tried to study German but they only taught the language related to business. Never had this huge passion for it.
I would love to start Japanese, but now I'm stuck with Spanish. Let's do 1 language at time!

Playing football for 15 years forced me to love staying outside and now, one of my favourite thing to do during weekends or in my free time is staying in nature. Going hike with friends, exploring hidden places where to record natural sounds is like a deep meditation for me.
Music has a big role in my life and, as a vinyl and cd collector, I can say that listening to a physical record is still one of the best listening experiences you can have.
My mom is a master in the kitchen and, slowly, like a ninja, I've tried to steal her secret recipe book failing miserably. I like to cook and with 2 friends we have this WhatsApp group where we share recipes, places where to go and try new food and finally eat, a lot haha.
Mountains are my favourite places to go, in winter or summer, it doesn't matter the season but I can't stand still on a folding bed under the sun.
I'm also a juggler, I learned during my first 2 years of Uni and, recently, I started doing jump ropes 3-4 days a week.
Listening to podcasts is a must and sometimes I find some interesting books to read like 12 rules for life by Jordan B Peterson or Soundscape, the tuning of the world by Schafer.
This is what I love to do!
