It is crazy to think how such much evil and perversion has taking place over the course over the last 150 years + in a province that had so much promise and known as the gateway to the West.
But that is what it was and to some extent, remains to be, a Wild, Wild West show.Â
Join myself, Jas, as I introduce you to a short history lesson on some very horrific crimes and murders that have happened in our fair city of Winnipeg and around Manitoba every day in October.Â

October 1, 2024 - Episode 1 - Manitoba's First Official Hanging
Way back to August 26, 1874 - just over 150 years ago, One of the first recorded deaths as written in the Nor'Wester newspaper stated that Jams A. Brown was killed by Joseph Michaud, 22 years of age. As a result, Joseph Michaud was the first noted execution in the province of Manitoba.Â

October 2, 2024 - Episode 2 - The Mystery Disappearance of Julia Johnston 1928
Little Julia Johnston was only 5 years old when she vanished into thin air while playing outside her home in Point Douglas in 1928. It was the difference of 5 minutes, then there was no trace of her. The City of Winnipeg was turned upside down. Eventually contributions of a reward on finding her reached $2,000.
However, the little girl was never.alive again.Â

October 3, 2024 - Episode 3 - Winnipeg Cannibalism 1996
It was a storyline that shock Winnipeg to its core in 1996 - A man murders his much older wife and dissects her in their North Kildonan apartment, keeping her body to feed on portions of her flesh. The horrific murder scene police found was indescribable as though from a horror movie. This is the story of Dean Wride.Â

Today we cover the crime rampage of Jack Krafchenko, aso known as Bloody Jack. He was a small time thug who had connections covering 3 continents which all came to a grinding halt, ended by the hangman's noose.Â

October 5, 2024 - Episode 5 - The Graysville Manitoba Mass Murders
Gunned down in cold blood, 5 members of the Schmidt family were murdered by a hunting rifle in the hands of none other than the the own family member who lived with them in Graysville, Manitoba. In 1951, It was reported to be the biggest killing of a single murder case in Manitoba's history.Â

Ocotober 6, 2024 - Episode 6 - The Bootlegger Murder 1964
Many people back in the day, supplimented their meager earnings by selling liquour and beer to partiers after hours, especially whne MLCCs had more restricted hours back in the 60s. However, as popular these 'Tea' houses were, they were also known for carrying large amounts of money as well. However, Mary 'Aunt Mary' Passage was found dead - was it a robberery, an over zealous partier or a disgruntled customer?
