Is it a universally acknowledged truth that a striking young woman is destined to capture the attention of an intelligent man? If that man hails from a deeply dysfunctional family and the young woman is prone to imagining ghosts and horrors lurking around every corner, then perhaps the answer is yes. Meet Catherine Morland, who, despite her reluctance to embrace the heroine role, finds herself thrust into that very position by her would-be suitors father, the enigmatic General. When the General realizes that Catherine is not the sophisticated enchantress of his heartless fantasies but rather the simple girl she appears to be, chaos ensues—what happens next is left to your vivid, perhaps Gothic, imagination. A clever parody of the horror genre that Jane Austen herself might chuckle at, this rendition of Northanger Abbey invites you to listen and enjoy the humor in the midst of the macabre.
