20 SEP 2021 · In the 2018 PwC Family Business Survey, 80% of family businesses were worried about innovation and technology. This suggests strongly that, as imperative as it may seem, family businesses still struggle with adapting to the use of technological innovations, a situation that usually occurs because of generational differences. In this episode of NextGen Talks, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Co-Founder and General Partner of Future Africa share his views on the role of digitizing a family business and the best approach given the older and younger generation dichotomy.

We see this in every survey cycle and at many of the family businesses we work with, and this in large part, is because many family business leaders (46%) say they are reluctant to pass the baton to the next generation.

17 JUN 2021 · Our pioneer guest on NextGen Talks is an experienced financial adviser, economist, technologist, and entrepreneur who has led the way in implementing large skill technology solutions to drive sustainable economic reform in Africa’s financial services sector for over 20 years. Uzoma Dozie was the last Group managing director of Diamond Bank, Nigeria having taking over the mantle from his Father, Mr. Pascal Dozie who founded the bank in 1990. During his tenure at Diamond bank, Uzoma was responsible for overseeing the corporate and commercial arms of the bank. He grew the retail banking arm to 18 million customers and oversaw the successful merger with Access Bank in April 2019 resulting in the new institution becoming Africa’s largest bank with 29 million customers. Prior to leading Diamond bank, Uzoma was a financial controller, spearheading different strategic business units within the organization. After his stint at Diamond bank, Uzoma has since launched “Sparkle” a mobile-first platform for Nigeria’s retail sector combining his vision for using technology to power financial inclusion and skill with his extensive background in retail and financial services. Uzoma is passionate about leveraging technology to play a definitive role in the social development and transformation of businesses on the continent. He believes that technology, good governance combined with support and education for SMEs has the power to push Africa forward.
