13 SEP 2024 · Detroit Lions Open The Season Beating The LA Rams-https://gainz-media.com/lions-beat-the-rams-to-start-2024/
The Detroit Lions started 2024 off right by beating Matt Stafford and the LA Rams this Sunday. Even Matthew Stafford’s heroics couldn’t hold off the Detroit Lions in Over Time.
Despite two passing interference calls Detroit’s revamped secondary held on to finish the game strong. The over time drive showed the offense looking unstoppable as they drove down the field for the win. David Montgomery looked unstoppable as he rushed 8 times on the final drive.
Both teams looked to be high quality and capable of making the playoffs and potentially a deep post season run. Jared Goff threw for 217 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception.
Oddly enough St Brown was MIALions wide receiver Armora St. Brown was held to only 3 catches and 13 on 6 targets. As the rams defense held him in check.
Even though the Rams were without recently retired defensive line man Aaron Donald they still looked strong on defense.

Detroit Lions land RB David Montgomery in free agency, say good-bye to Jamaal Williams
The Detroit Lions will have a new workhorse in their backfield in 2023.
The Lions reached agreement on a three-year, $18 million contract with Chicago Bears free agent running back David Montgomery late Tuesday night, according to multiple reports.
Montgomery's signing, which can become official at 4 p.m. Wednesday, likely means the end of Jamaal Williams' time in Detroit.
Williams led the Lions with 1,066 yards rushing and the NFL with 17 rushing touchdowns last season. A fan favorite in Detroit, Williams became the first Lion to top 1,000 yards rushing since Reggie Bush in 2013 and broke Barry Sanders' franchise single-season touchdown record.
He said after the season he hoped to sign a long-term extension with the Lions, and the two sides met to discuss a new contract at the NFL combine earlier this month. In Montgomery, the Lions believe they upgraded their offense with one of the most productive and durable backs on the market.A third-round pick out of Iowa State in 2019, Montgomery topped 200 carries in each of his four seasons with the Bears. He ran for career-highs of 1,070 yards and eight touchdowns in 2020, topped 800 yards each of the past two seasons and has averaged 3.9 yards per carry on nearly 1,000 attempts for his career.

Tigers Fail To Trade E RodThe Detroit Tigers were embarrassed in the first game of the series.
In the second game? Not at all.
The Tigers received a brilliant performance — seven scoreless innings on 102 pitches — from left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez in his second start since the Aug. 1 trade deadline, leading to a 6-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday at Comerica Park.
"I felt really good," Rodriguez said. "I feel like that was one of my best games that I've thrown this year. I didn't have my third pitch working, but I used my other ones and was able to go seven innings. The (three) walks don't matter. I went seven innings, and we won the game. That's all I really want."
https://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2023/08/08/detroit-tigers-game-recap-minnesota-twins-eduardo-rodriguez/70555584007/
The Tigers (50-63) supported Rodriguez, who has a 2.75 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 17 starts this season, by scoring three runs through the first four innings against Twins right-hander Sonny Gray.Detroit became the 24th MLB team to reach 50 wins in 2023."The best part of Eduardo today was anchoring his staff when he saw us get beat up a little bit yesterday," Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said. "We went through a lot of bullpen arms. Guys are hanging a little bit. It's August. He stepped up and delivered a gem. That part of it is the top-of-the-rotation guy that we like. That's why we love when he's out there."

29 APR 2023 · Thursday night began the 2023 NFL draft which took place in Kansas City. The home of the Super Bowl Champion Chiefs, with the Dolphins forfeiting their pick due to #BradyGate there would only be 31 first round picks. The Detroit Lions held two picks originally at 6 and 18 but made a trade with the Arizona Cardinals to move back to 12. The Detroit Lions also picked up a second round pick at #34 which is basically Round 2 Pick 3. Much has been made on Detroit Sports Talk radio about the Lions picking a Running Back and a Linebacker in the first round.
The NFL draft was thrown into chaos when the Houston Texans moved up and picked CJ Stroud and Will Anderson back to back. The entire draft boards of several NFL teams were blown up by this. The Lions seemed to make it look like Bijan Robinson was their draft target, but he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons at 8.
The NFL draft was considered lighter on generational talent that could shake the league and make a team better immediately. Many of the big name players were taken quickly after the Cardinals and Lions made their trade.

Will Levis Plummets Due To Toe Injury There are several noteworthy prospects still available, starting with Kentucky quarterback Will Levis, who tumbled out of Round 1. Could he find an early landing spot Friday? The other highest-regarded remaining players include Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer, Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr., Alabama defensive back Brian Branch and Oregon State tight end Luke Musgrave. Each was thought to have a chance to go in the first round.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/36309278/kentucky-qb-levis-slides-nfl-draft-first-round
Kentucky quarterback Will Levis, widely expected to be a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, was not chosen among the 31 selections made Thursday night.
ESPN draft analysts Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay both had Levis being selected by the Indianapolis Colts in their final mock drafts. The Colts, however, selected Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 pick.
Levis' left toe that caused him to miss two games last year was "problematic " for one team that considered him, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Thursday.
Levis, who is 6-foot-4 and 229 pounds, has drawn comparisons to Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen with his strong arm and above-average mobility. Levis spent the first two years of his college career at Penn State before transferring to Kentucky as a junior. His production fell off last season as a senior, when he passed for 2,406 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions after throwing for 2,826 yards, 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2021. He also rushed for nine touchdowns as a junior but managed just two rushing scores last season.

24 MAR 2023 · Ever since last Saturday when former President Donald Trump predicted on his own social media outlet that he would be arrested the following Tuesday — a prediction that has yet to come to fruition — the entirety of the American media and political firmament quickly jumped from so-called “indictment watch” to all out “fever pitch” as it began contemplating the myriad implications of a former President of the United States being indicted and facing possible felony prosecution.
The idea of prosecuting a former head of state is actually a fairly normal occurrence in the course of a functioning democracy — just not one that has transpired in this country.

President Joe Biden has issued the first https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/20/politics/biden-first-veto/index.html of his presidency, preserving a Labor Department rule that permits fiduciary retirement fund managers to consider climate change and social criteria when making investments. This is a mistake. By vetoing the measure to nix the rule, the President is not supporting middle class American retirees (and future retirees) or their ability to receive the highest possible investment returns to meet their retirement financial needs.During the past decade, open-end funds and exchange-traded funds that have focused on non-traditional investment priorities — namely, environmental, social and governance factors (ESG) — have drawn considerable attention.

14 DEC 2022 · LIONS RUNNING WILD... J Goff and Alex Anzalone lead the lions comeback...
Also is The Dread Squad a Fraud like The Minnesota Vikings?
Detroit Lions fans were going nuts, screaming and chanting, trying to blow the roof off Ford Field. It was loud and electric and, well, just so much dang fun.
“Detroit feels it,” Aidan Hutchinson said after the Lions’ 34-23 victory Sunday over the Minnesota Vikings. “They feel we're coming along right now; and we're gonna make this playoff push at the end and do everything we can to get in, and it takes one game at a time.”
Yes, everybody is feelin’ it. Because this feels so different. The vibe around the Lions is unmistakable — this team that has won five of six games to make it to 6-7.

14 DEC 2022 · Quarterback
I’ve dinged Jared Goff for his crucial mistakes in crunch time in some of the Lions’ losses this season, so it’s only right to give him credit for delivering with the game on the line Sunday. Goff made a dart of a throw to Tom Kennedy on third-and-8 with a linebacker in his face and just over 3 minutes to play on the go-ahead touchdown drive. He was far from perfect. He got bailed out by a penalty away from the play on a bad interception and made a poor throw to an open Shane Zylstra on third-and-12 in the second half. But Goff finished a respectable 19 of 26 passing for 236 yards and made a key play with his feet, sidestepping a sack and scrambling for a first down on the Lions’ first touchdown drive of the second half. Grade: B-minus
