On this episode of Role Call with Chief Brian Dugan, we get behind the handle bars with Onbikes co-founder Julius Tobin to hear how the local nonprofit uses two-wheels to power positive change. Tobin shares some secrets behind the wildly popular nonprofit's ability to provide free bikes to at-risk kids.
Tobin and a group of friends founded Onbikes in 2011 after hosting a successful community bike ride that raised money to purchase bikes for disadvantaged children. Since then, the nonprofit has teamed up with numerous organizations, including the Tampa Police Department, to provide thousands of kids with their first set of wheels.
Tobin and his colleagues view Onbikes as not just an organization, but a lifestyle. Their hope is that each person who experiences Onbikes picks up their “giving is better than receiving” philosophy that promotes the organization's committment to serving the community around them.

15 MAY 2019 · In this episode of Role Call, Chief Brian Dugan sits down with Darrell Daniels to chat about the importance of fostering positive relationships between teens and law enforcement. Daniels serves as the Executive Director for Youth Programs for the Derrick Brooks Charities foundation. While serving in this role, Daniels has made tremendous strides in providing teens with creative and positive outlets to keep them on the right path.

An avid cyclist, Lieutenant Groves plays an important role in coordinating the department's involvement in the "ride for those who died." He shares the importance of the Police Unity Tour and how officers prepare for the humbling 240 miles bike ride from Portsmouth, Virginia to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial bears the names of 21,183 U.S. law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty throughout American history. The names include the 31 Tampa Police officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Capacity builiding, enhancing opportunities for inclusion and collaborating with families and professionals are the focus of Christine Rover's work at CARD. She joins Chief Dugan to talk about how the organization played a role in developing training for law enforcement and city employees.
Chief Dugan goes on to explain the department's Help Us, Help You special needs registry and its importance in improving interactions between officers and individuals with special needs.
17 APR 2019 · On this episode, we learn how ESPN's Tiffany Greene is playing a major role in the collegiate sports world and as a mentor to inspire local kids.
Tune in as Chief Brian Dugan chats with this play-by-play announcer to learn how Greene is breaking barriers as a female sportscaster, and why she feels it's important to give back to the city she calls home.
Greene is the first African-American woman to serve as a play-by-play commentator for college football on a major network.
Prior to realizing her dream as a sportscaster, Greene attended Hillsborough High School where she was no stranger to the basketball courts. She went on to graduate from Florida A&M University with a degree in broadcast journalism and steadily rose from local TV to a major broadcast network.
In addition to calling a variety of collegiate games on ESPN, Greene volunteers her time to mentor kids through programs such as MediaGirlz (Girl Scouts of West Central Florida) and Press Pass (Tampa Bay Local Organizing Committee).
Greene's recent involvement in the 2019 NCAA Women's Final Four led to a significant donation that will impact boys and girls throughout Tampa.
3 APR 2019 · In this premiere episode, Chief Brian Dugan chats with Mayor Bob Buckhorn about the role the mayor plays in public safety.
During his time in office, Mayor Buckhorn made it a priority to focus on public safety, strong neighborhoods and economic growth while working diligently to improve the overall quality of life for Tampa residents. With Mayor Buckhorn’s support, Tampa earned the U.S. Conference of Mayor’s top 2018 award: the 1st Place Large City Livability award for City of Tampa’s Parks & Recreation “Stay and Play Program.”
Mayor Buckhorn shares the importance of the Stay and Play program, and how initiatives like this have impacted Tampa's crime rate.
