Safety for Us is a storytelling project highlighting stories from black community members living in the United States. The main intent of this project is to provide a space for storytelling for black people, by people. Often times, storytelling is co-opted by the dominant culture by essentially erasing black people's humanity and their experiences. This project emphasizes that it is one puzzle piece in the collective movement for black lives, that builds on to existing projects that are shifting the narrative of safety in our communities.

I did the unspeakable for community organizer in the last 2 weeks, I did nothing. I slept, I ate and I answered no emails. Rest is resistance and it's embodied in safety.
" I feared that an invitation to rest in these precarious times would feel hollow, disingenuous, insufficient. Worried that the suggestion of rest, self and community care would be woefully inadequate to meet the unrelenting demands of this time."
