27 APR 2023 · In most places of business, people are assessed on the quality of their work and not predominantly on the amount of time spent on their work! Why should it be different in a law firm? At Bowers Law the trainees and NQs are assessed on the quality of their work, in a "very collegiate atmosphere and without timesheets, no one is really competing with each other; we do certainly share knowledge!" says Litigation Partner, Derek Cheuk.

10 MAR 2023 · "The firm I worked for asked if I was interested in working for the Hong Kong office... I was doing construction law and because of the number of construction disputes arising on it and the later infrastructure projects they just needed more lawyers out in HK... I visited Hong Kong for a few days in 1990 on the way to Australia and liked it and wanted to spend some more time here and I also had friends here, so when the opportunity arose I jumped at it." 25 years later, Mark Bedford, dispute resolution Partner at Bowers Law, is still happily residing in HK.
