Before the Adirondacks were mapped, protected, or even fully understood, they were a vast and largely unknown wilderness. In this first episode of The Colvin Chronicles, we go back to the beginning to explore the early life of Verplanck Colvin and the path that led him to take on one of the most important roles in Adirondack history.
This is the story of how one man’s curiosity, drive, and connection to the mountains set the stage for a survey that would ultimately change the future of the Adirondacks forever.
