28 DEC 2020 · Most of us know when we are not doing well. However, we struggle to define what it would mean for us to feel better. We can’t identify the barriers to happiness, and sometimes we can’t even describe what that happiness would look like. Our culture promotes happiness despite it being a deeply individual thing. As career-achieving women, we often wait to care about ourselves until we are caught up or have more free time. But it is important to find time to invest in ourselves and incorporate those moments into our busy lives.
In this week’s episode, we will listen to Dr. Victoria Dalton — a psychologist and Rebecca’s therapist — as she tells us about the barriers to feeling better. She talks about the philosophies behind internal and external forces, and why some people rewrite the history of their successes and failures. Dr. Victoria Dalton also discusses how to give yourself permission to enjoy the moments you work toward instead of looking for what’s next. In her conversation with Rebecca, she emphasizes the importance of tackling the world with a mindset that you can handle it and reminding yourself that you are not alone. She also emphasizes why you should create meaningful, workable goals that can help you track your progress.

We even have to step outside ourselves and empathize with other people around us. In the end, the most important part of this process is keeping a positive mindset, so that we can problem-solve and plan rather than catastrophize.
In this week’s episode, we talk to Dr. Victoria Dalton again about how we can start to feel better. She talks about why humans repeat behaviors, and how we can adapt those same patterns and behaviors. 11 DEC 2020 · We need to trust ourselves and ask for help when we need it. Sometimes we feel miserable in careers that fit society’s mold for what we should be doing. When that happens, we are striving. However, sometimes we feel at home in a job and we feel like we belong, and that is when we begin to thrive. Our jobs should play to our unique talents, gifts, and abilities. As humans, we are personal, emotional, and social beings, and we need all of those needs to be met at work.

Her son, Collin Wiant, died in a hazing incident at Ohio University in 2018. Ever since that moment, Kathleen has spent her time trying to understand everything she can about hazing. She has learned about the neuroscience behind it, the stereotypes associated with it, and the ways we can break the cycle. In today’s conversation with Rebecca, she shares her story and what she has learned in an effort to help other parents and children dealing with issues of hazing. Right now, many working moms are facing uncertainty with the announcement of all-virtual learning. They are concerned and stressed, and I am here to help. Even though we, as career women, have been hit the hardest, we will learn skills that will help us persevere and make us stronger in the business world moving forward.
In this week’s episode, we will listen to Rebecca Fleetwood Hession as she shares three things that will help working moms in their careers and in their homes right now. The first thing she discusses is the importance of connection versus control when facing uncertainty. She also talks about paring back expectations right now and focusing on physical safety, psychological safety, and human connection instead of what you are producing in this time. Lastly, she emphasizes why all moms should ask for help and work as a team right now with everyone in the house. Even though right now is difficult, Rebecca reminds working moms to call on past experiences of uncertainty and use the skills you have to get through this time one step at a time.
Listen in to learn more about what you can do during this time of uncertainty and how you can grow as a mom and a career woman with the three tips Rebecca shares.
13 NOV 2020 · We all walk around with a story. Sometimes we feel alone in our stories and sometimes we don’t know how to share our stories. But if we can be vulnerable and connect with others, we can start to heal and grow from our stories. We can find hope in our trauma, and use our experiences, talents, and abilities to help others in their stories.
In this week’s episode, we will listen to Michelle Corrao and Emily Sutherland as they talk about the importance of sharing your story to heal from trauma. In 1996, Michelle was found in the trunk of her own car by an off-duty police officer after being abducted and violently assaulted. With Emily’s help, Michelle has written a book — Found: Found: Triumph Over Fear With Grace and Gratitude: The Michelle Corrao Story — about her story and trauma as a source of hope for other survivors and their families. In their conversation with Rebecca, Michelle and Emily talk about three things:
1. The importance of listening to the whispers and pay attention to the gut feelings we all get
2. How the most horrific aspect of our life and our trauma can be used to help someone else heal
3. The power of connection and community to help us bring our stories to light
Listen in to hear more about how Emily helped Michelle tell her story, and how we can all find hope in any sort of trauma we are experiencing.
