19 SEP 2026 · The Bundle of Sticks — Aesop’s Fable About Unity, Family, and Strength | TH3 COACHMAN In this episode of TH3 COACHMAN, I read and reflect on The Bundle of Sticks, a classic Aesop fable about unity, cooperation, family conflict, and the strength people gain when they stop fighting one another and stand together. A father whose sons constantly quarrel gives them a simple challenge: break a bundle of sticks. When none of them succeeds, he separates the sticks and shows how easily each can be broken alone. Through one simple demonstration, he teaches his sons a lesson that has survived for centuries. After the reading, I explore why this ancient story still matters in families, friendships, teams, workplaces, and communities today—and why unity doesn't require people to become identical. Sometimes strength simply comes from refusing to let differences separate people who are stronger together.

An overloaded ass asks his traveling companion, a horse, to carry part of his burden. The horse refuses. But when the exhausted ass can no longer continue, the horse discovers that avoiding a small responsibility has left him carrying something much greater. After the reading, I explore why this ancient lesson still applies to workplaces, families, friendships, relationships, and everyday life. The Horse and the Ass reminds us that sometimes helping someone before they collapse isn't only compassion—it prevents a manageable problem from becoming a crisis for everyone.

A powerful lion falls in love with a young woman and asks to marry her. Her frightened parents agree on one condition: he must remove his claws and teeth. Blinded by love, the lion accepts, only to discover that he has willingly surrendered the very things that once protected him. After the reading, I explore why this ancient story still speaks directly to modern relationships, boundaries, compromise, and identity. The Lion in Love reminds us that vulnerability is part of loving someone—but losing yourself doesn't have to be.

A fox becomes trapped inside a well when a thirsty goat arrives. Instead of admitting his predicament, the fox convinces the goat that the water below is too good to resist. The goat jumps in without considering how he will get back out—and unknowingly becomes the fox’s escape plan. After the reading, I explore why this ancient story remains so relevant in a world filled with persuasive advice, tempting opportunities, questionable deals, and people whose recommendations may benefit themselves more than us. The Fox and the Goat offers a simple lesson that still matters: before you jump into something, make sure you know how you're getting back out.

But when a countryman challenges him with something far more authentic, the audience's reaction reveals that people don't always judge what is directly in front of them. Sometimes reputation and expectation have already made the decision. After the reading, I explore why this ancient fable feels remarkably modern in a world shaped by social media, advertising, branding, influencers, public image, and carefully manufactured appearances. The Buffoon and the Countryman asks a timeless question: can we recognize what's real when we've already been convinced by the imitation?
