9 OCT 2020 · A rebroadcast to highlight Indigenous People’s Day, on October 12th, 2020 in the United States. This is a day to pay homage to the real founders of this land we call America. Our guest are Gabriel Orosco and Veronica Valadez. They discuss their Native American rich history, culture, contributions, and achievements of their ancestors. In addition, Gabriel and Veronica highlighted the current projects they are both working on in their communities. Indigenous People’s Day, which is celebrated on the 2nd Monday, in the Month of October every year. This year it is celebrated on October 14th in the US. Currently, 6 U.S. states including: South Dakota, Hawaii, Vermont and Minnesota. Also, 130 cities including: Los Angeles, San Francisco; Denver; Seattle; Minneapolis; Anchorage, Alaska; Phoenix; Portland, Oregon; and Albuquerque, New Mexico. The celebration of Indigenous People’s Day is an apropos time to dispels the grandiose myths that Christopher Columbus and other European colonizers discovered America and made it great. This podcast does discuss how indigenous people were subjugated to the following: wholesale transfer of stolen wealth and land, enslavement, and suffered mass murder, at the hands of the European colonizers.
