Once upon a time not so long ago in this very land called home, I was a City Councillor for a period of time who even ran for mayor once. Now I'm getting back to my roots in the arts and performing and writing but I still like to rant about all of the things: politics, climate change, dumb humans, cultural issues, not enough safe cycling infrastructure, too much garbage, you name it. Sometimes I have something interesting to say and sometimes I have even more interesting guests to chat with.

The Real Rant Podcast
3 JAN 2023 · In this episode, I chat about what it was like to run for Mayor (it was really hard!) while completing the construction of a seniors rental apartment building with the weight of the world on my shoulders. Now the election is over, it's a new day and anything is possible! Look out 2023, because I'm coming for you!
23 AUG 2022 · There are some good news updates on how the City of Powell River has been leading the way on climate action and corporate emission reduction and I also stray off somewhat into what it's about running for a local government elected position.
21 APR 2022 · I have had the privilege as an elected official to be handed opportunities to listen, to learn and to try to understand our collective past and how we can consider moving forward as a community towards true reconciliation with our Indigenous partners in this land we call our home. This journey should bring us together, not tear our community apart and I have some thoughts on that. I encourage you to listen with your heart wide open, breathe deeply, be curious and shift your thinking towards a new path of discovery. Digging in our heels only sinks us deeper into the sand. Please choose to soar through the ups and downs, towards opportunities for true reconciliation, listening, healing and a more wholesome future.
14 MAR 2022 · My interview with therapist and spiritual advisor Penelope Limfimbim in an attempt to regain some sanity, humour and lightheartedness. *Irony intended.*
26 FEB 2021 · The City of Powell River's Sustainability Planner Ana Lukyanova joins me once again to chat about some recent climate action and sustainability inititatives and encourages everyone to give the Zunga Bus a try! On-Demand Transit is where it's at!
11 FEB 2021 · I had the priviledge of speaking with MP Rachel Blaney on her Private Members Motion "M-53: Principles for a Sustainable & Equitable Future" and we chat about how important it is for citizens to reach out and make their voices heard to their representatives in government. Throughout this pandemic, Rachel has continued to work hard for North Island - Powell River. Thank you Rachel!
4 FEB 2021 · Things are starting to look a bit brighter and feel a bit better. But how can we make sure everyone's voices are heard when they want to speak? The inner musings of where do we go from here.
9 JAN 2021 · We thought 2020 was bad and then 2021 said "Hold my beer." Watching the events unfold this week at the US Capitol of a coup attempt by ReTrumplicans was shocking but we should not be surprised. I am diving into the uncomfortable topic of systemic racism and implicit bias in our society. Happy New Year?
7 DEC 2020 · Every week there are a new set of challenges it seems, especially when elected to a local government position. We have a new amazing cabinet in the BC Government (super exciting!), our City Council has been making a lot of great forward thinking decisions to make our community the best it can be and we are all just plugging along the best we can in the hopes that it can only get better, right?!
21 OCT 2020 · The unfortunate political structures we have in the world are all broken. We are all caught up in a system that doesn't work. But in order to change the system, we have to show up and understand all sides that are at play and not just look at the view we want to see all the time. And Old Growth Forests need protecting.
