30 MAR 2023 · We're really don't like the term "expert" anymore. Writing a book, taking a course, or holding a certificate or political office doesn't necessarily make someone an expert. There are lots of people in every field who claim to be experts but they lack credibility. Credibility is far superior to claiming expertise, especially when it comes to trauma. Trauma experts are people who have lots of education, experience, and credibility among the people they help.
That's not to say that only professionals can be helpful, but be very cautious when people claim to be experts but lack credibility or a vast amount of experience and education. It really matters, when we are processing trauma, whether someone is credible or not.
