21 SEP 2026 · What if the problem in your business isn’t actually your team?
In this episode of The Wealthy Practitioner Podcast, Nikki is back after two weeks of travel: from France and Switzerland for her husband’s 40th birthday to six days in New Jersey with the TWP team. She’s talking about one of the biggest lessons in leadership: diagnosing the problem before you react to it.
When something keeps breaking in your business, it’s easy to assume you have a people problem. But before you blame the person, hire someone new, create another SOP, or jump in and fix it yourself, there are four places you need to look: people, process, policy, and leadership.
Nikki breaks down how to tell the difference between someone who needs more training and someone who needs accountability, why relying on your team to “just remember” is usually a process issue, and how unclear policies can turn you into the person everyone has to ask for permission.
And then there’s the hardest bottleneck to recognize: you.
If you require approval for everything, redo your team’s work, jump in the second something goes wrong, or say you want ownership but criticize decisions you wouldn’t have made yourself, you may be creating the exact dependence you’re frustrated by.
Because you cannot require control and then complain about dependence.
