show more"Bring me a writer who's drifted far from home, make sure he's hungry, make sure he's alone. Send me a cheese burger and a new Rolling Stone."
Young burned to the heart of the necessity of writers, who almost always ply their trade alone, with little more than a keyboard and the voices in their head. He also wanted a burger and a peek at what's being written about him.
My intent with this podcast is to talk to all manner of writers. Not just songwriters, novelists and poets, though they will be included. There are Pulitzer Prize winners and New York Times best sellers here, but most of these writers you've never heard of. Though they are prolific, often brilliant and always necessary. Someone wrote that Sunday sermon, soap opera and cereal ad. We come across the work of writers every day of our lives.
And yes, even in death.
That is where we will begin. With our death.
