31 AUG 2026 · UCU Lady Canons are champions once again.
After a five-game NBL Women's Final, UCU defeated JT Lady Jaguars 4–1 to claim their ninth championship.
On this episode of This Is Basketball Podcast, Avitus Ngabirano of 2bob Sports returns to break down the finals and examine how UCU turned a competitive series into another championship-winning campaign.
We look at the tactical battles throughout the five games, UCU's use of their bigs, rebounding advantage, free throws, three-point shooting and the impact of Martina Anyango, who consistently found ways to influence the series even when JT adjusted defensively.
We also ask the difficult questions:
🏀 What went wrong for JT Lady Jaguars?
🏀 Did JT have enough difference-makers when the pressure increased?
🏀 How important was UCU's roster depth?
🏀 What role did Coach Nick's experience play?
🏀 Was Martina Anyango the league's best player?
🏀 How should we judge the Women's MVP and Best Five selections?
🏀 What does JT need to change to return stronger next season?
We also highlight the performances of players including Joy Auma, Martina Anyango, Tracy Anyango, Daphine Adongo and Sara Ageno, before looking at the future of Ugandan women's basketball.
A championship review built around basketball, numbers, tactics and accountability — not just the final score. Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/this-is-basketball--5895849/support.
