7 OCT 2023 · Tara Calico was a 19-year-old honor student who vanished without a trace on September 20, 1988. She left her home in Belen, New Mexico for a bike ride and was never seen again.Her disappearance remains one of the most notorious unsolved mysteries in New Mexico history. In 1989, a Polaroid photo was found in Florida that showed a young woman and a young man bound and gagged in the back of a van. The woman in the photo was believed to be Tara Calico, but the man's identity remains unknown.In 2008, a man named David Pearce was arrested in connection with Tara's disappearance. Pearce was a convicted sex offender who lived in the area where Tara vanished. He was also known to have a Polaroid camera like the one used to take the photo of Tara and the other young person.Pearce was charged with kidnapping and murder, but he was acquitted of all charges at trial. The judge in the case ruled that there was insufficient evidence to convict Pearce.Tara's disappearance remains unsolved, but her case is still under investigation by the Belen Police Department and the FBI.This is a brief description of the unsolved murder of Tara Calico. It is a tragic and heartbreaking case, and I hope that it will one day be solved.
