His disappearance has gained some traction on social media, due to an outcry online of people pointing out the massive amount of media coverage for Gabbie Petito's disappearance, but the often overlooked disappearances and murders of people of color. Fortunately, Jelani's case has garnered some more awareness but there is still little known about what happened to Jelani in August of 2021.
