Does skin tone impact mental health? I wish the answer to this question was an easy no, but it is much more complicated than that. My medical classmate and great friend Mehalate comes on to discuss her experience as a black women attending schools compiled of mostly white students nearly her entire life. Mehalate talks about her feelings of isolation, and the pressure she put on herself to succeed, and pave a way for other students of color. Mehalate is a third year medical student, with strong interests in surgery and OB/GYN.
