Nl: Het verhaal begint met Koen.
En: The story begins with Koen.

Nl: Koen is een toerist, een blij mens in de mooie stad Amsterdam.
En: Koen is a tourist, a happy person in the beautiful city of Amsterdam.

Nl: Maar Koen is ook een beetje klunzig.
En: But Koen is also a bit clumsy.

Nl: "Hoi, ik ben Koen!
En: "Hi, I'm Koen!"

Nl: " zei hij met een lach.
En: he said with a smile.

Nl: Hij hield zijn telefoon omhoog.
En: He held up his phone.

Nl: Hij wilde een selfie maken.
En: He wanted to take a selfie.

Nl: Naast een gracht, een heel mooie gracht.
En: Next to a canal, a very beautiful canal.

Nl: Plotseling gleed zijn voet weg.
En: Suddenly, his foot slipped.

Nl: "Oh, nee!
En: "Oh no!"

Nl: " riep Koen.
En: cried Koen.

Nl: Splash!

Nl: Koen viel in de gracht.
En: Koen fell into the canal.

Nl: Zijn telefoon ging ook het water in.

Nl: Maar wacht, daar kwam Lotte.
En: But wait, there came Lotte.

Nl: Lotte woonde in Amsterdam.
En: Lotte lived in Amsterdam.

Nl: "Wat is er gebeurd?
En: "What happened?"

Nl: Lotte zag Koen in het water.

Nl: "Ik probeer te helpen," zei Lotte.

Nl: Met een grote plons viel ook Lotte in de gracht.
En: With a big splash, Lotte also fell into the canal.

Nl: Nu waren Koen en Lotte beide in het water.
En: Now both Koen and Lotte were in the water.

Nl: Gelukkig waren er veel mensen.

Nl: Ze riepen een reddingsboot.

En: "Me too," said Lotte.

Nl: Ze lachten, zelfs al waren ze nat.
En: They laughed, even though they were wet.

Nl: Ze waren uit het water en veilig.
En: They were out of the water and safe.

Nl: Koen kreeg zijn telefoon terug.
En: Koen got his phone back.

Nl: Het was nog steeds aan.
En: It was still working.

Nl: Koen en Lotte namen er samen een selfie mee.
En: Koen and Lotte took a selfie together with it.

Nl: "Dit is een leuke foto," zei Koen.
En: "This is a fun photo," said Koen.

Nl: "Het beste souvenir!
En: "The best souvenir!"

Nl: "Ze dachten terug aan hun avontuur.
En: They looked back on their adventure.

Nl: Ze hadden een nieuwe vriend gemaakt.
En: They had made a new friend.

Nl: En ze waren niet bang geweest.
En: And they had not been afraid.

Nl: Want ze hadden kunnen lachen, zelfs al zaten ze in de gracht.
En: Because they were able to laugh, even though they were in the canal.
