Our first caller, Dejah wants advice on knowing if she is going to succeed as a social worker. Nancy reminds her that competition is going to be there in everything we do but to make a list of traits that make her unique. Listen in, to hear how you can follow your heart and avoid self-doubt.
Our second caller Sue wants to know how to deal with empty nest syndrome. Nancy tells Sue to try and go back to an ambition she had before she had children and to remember that her children are always going to need her. Tune in to hear how you can hear how to cope with feeling alone.
Our inspirational guest, Shawn Simons was in involved in a fire that occurred on his college campus. When Shawn was a freshman there was one night the fire alarm went off, but he thought it was a false alarm. Shawn opened the door to find a burst of black smoke that entered his room. Shawn crawled past the fire in order to escape and ended up with first, second, and third degree burns to his body. Shawn went into a medically induced coma in order to treat his burns. He recovered and now gives talks around the world to talk about his story and the importance of fire safety. Listen in to hear how Shawn found strength through this tragedy and was able to put aside his anger in order for himself to heal on the inside.
Our final caller, Emily is looking for advice on how to mend a relationship with a loved one. Nancy advices her to either call, email, text or write a letter to that loved about meeting up in person to talk things out in order to get back on track. Tune in with Nancy, to learn how to have faith in the process of working through difficult times in our lives.
