Water is a human right. We should not be allowing corporations to privatize it, bottle it and sell if for enormous profits and then ship it around the world increasing the carbon emissions of the planet. The City of Powell River should prohibit the bottling of all groundwater and surface water in our bylaws. We should not allow a water bottling operation to come to the town to bottle water and sell it. And we should lobby the Provincial Government to revoke all water licenses. Bottling and selling surface water and groundwater is unsustainable and criminal. Instead let's help communities and countries that don't have access to clean drinking water, get their own clean publicly funded water so they don't have to buy it. Let the ranting begin.
